The announcement of our new Megabytes 'Girls Only Club' programme, made it into the news when Civil Society reported on the massive oversubscription of the scheme funding the programme.
The Tampon Tax Fund, set up to distribute £3.4m of funding to charities, was so heavily oversubscribed that only a quarter of applications were successful.
In the case of Bytes, this success took the form of £10,000 of funding to run workshops on tech and computer science with girls from disadvantaged backgrounds, building on experience from our previous Megabytes projects. This new project, Girl Code, will be trialed over the coming months.
