First launched in 2019, supported by the Tampon Tax Fund and Community Foundation for Northern Ireland, Girl Code focuses on introducing girls aged 11-16 to tech and computing.

Working in the Mid-Ulster and Mid & East Antrim regions, the 2019 programme saw us trial various new ways of delivering sessions, explore new technologies and proved to be highly successful. Feedback from the young people involved was overwhelmingly positive, and staff had been successful in building a new programme of engaging, creative activities around tech and coding from the ground up.

In January 2020, Bytes was successful in winning further funding from the Tampon Tax Fund and Community Foundation for Northern Ireland to expand the Girl Code programme in both size and scale.

Girl Code is co-ordinated by Sarah Geddis. For more information or to enquire about spaces on the programme, email: [email protected]
