Carrick & Glengormley Young People give something back to NHS Key Workers

Last Thursday (27th May), young people from two Peace Bytes groups in the Antrim & Newtownabbey area were responsible for a highly successful ‘Coffee for the NHS’ day at Belfast City Hospital.

The event came about after participants from our Peace Bytes groups at Glengormley High School and Carrickfergus Academy spoke to their respective youth workers about their appreciation for the work of NHS staff during the COVID-19 pandemic and their desire to ‘give something back’ to these key workers. As the Peace Bytes programme involves a Social Action Project – an activity planned and carried out by young people in the community to help or support others – our staff suggested that the two groups come together to plan an event that would allow the young people to show their appreciation.
