Last night, our Peace Bytes programme in Derry-Londonderry hosted the premier of 'The Effect of Silence', a short film on the pressing issue of mental health and suicide among young people.

The film was created by young people from our group in Strathfoyle to mark World Mental Health Day 2018. For the young people involved the idea behind the video was to make the production as realistic as they possibly could.

The video is deliberately hard hitting, to support the message that if you are suffering in silence to reach out and talk to someone, to get the help and support you deserve. The production team also wanted to highlight the need to look out for your friends and for young people to be open about their struggles.

The film was written, directed, acted and shot entirely by members of the Strathfoyle group. Peace Bytes staff supported and supervised the shoot, as well as providing the equipment needed and assisting in production.
