What We Do
Suicide Awareness

- Category: Personal Development
In December 2006 Byte’s users from Poleglass, Shankill and Upper Springfield centres attended a suicide awareness project facilitated by TMR Professionals at the Belfast Activity Centre. The suicide awareness project had been a training exercise and a cross-community event. The suicide awareness training looked at the stigma attached to suicide and at preventative measures that could be taken in relation to suicide. The second part of the project involved outdoor pursuit activities that focused on team building; the young people were split up into groups, all from different centres. The activities had been designed to ensure each member had to communicate and participate effectively and work together. The day was a complete success and the young people showed great determination, enthusiasm and motivation with all activities. The group of young men went paintballing at the end of the project.
