Sailing day with Ocean Youth Trust

Young people for The Belfast Foyer Bytes Project take to the waves.
Young people from The Belfast Foyer Bytes Project took part in a one day sailing taster activity facilitated by Ocean Youth Trust. The group travelled to Ballyholme Yacht Club in Bangor to take part. The day covered the basics required for a safe voyage in the bay and we took part in team building exercises. During the afternoon the young people took to the waves and applied their learning. Each participant got the opportunity to take the various controls of the sail boat and were genuinely exhilarated by the experience. The day served to promote individual self esteem, teamwork and leadership skills. The day also gave the young people the opportunity to get a taste of sailing and one member of the group has used the experience as a catalyst to apply to become involved with volunteering with the organisation.
