My name is Tori and I currently work on the Exodus 500 programme as the Youth Development Officer based in Belfast. The programme is in the final year of 3. I have been involved with youth work for over 4 years including outreach, centre based and detached.
The aim of the Exodus 500 programme is to engage with young people aged 16 to 24 years old who are not in education, training or employment.
My role within the programme is to recruit groups of young people from all over Belfast. Our current groups include Flax Foyer in Ardoyne, Woodlands Juvenile Justice Centre in Bangor, Rathcoole, Belfast Met and Belfast Foyer.
After the groups have been recruited it is my role to support the young people through delivering accredited qualifications or personal and social development sessions. Some of these qualifiactions include Essential Skils English and Maths. Alongside this we can also support young people in order to help them gain qualifications which are relevant to their field of future work such as CSR, First Aid, Fitness Instructing, SIA security and Forklift licience’s.
