A group from Foyer have been taking part in the intergenerational project and spending time sharing stories about life with a more mature group from Malton Fold. The group have undergone a sightseeing trip of Belfast by bus and by boat, sharing stories about what it was like for each generation to grow up in Belfast and how the city has changed. More Recently the group went on a work visit to Dublin Zoo where we got an insight into life from different cultures. Latoya, aged 20, a resident in Foyer shares about her experience of a day trip to Dublin.
My name is Latoya Toffa, I am a resident in the foyer and I took part in the intergenerational project where we recently went to Dublin Zoo. Going to the zoo for me was both fun and educational trip. I saw animals that I never could have ever imagined not even in my wildest dreams, which was pretty cool. I also found it interesting where each animal originated from. To sum up everything it was a spectacular trip and would do it over and over again.
Young people and old seemed to enjoy our few trips together and we hope to keep building on the relationship with Foyer and Malton Fold as there is so much to learn from people of a different generation.
